Names of God: Jehovah-Kanna, Jehovah-Yish’i, Jehovah-M’Kaddesh, Jehovah-Machsi

Jehovah-Jehovah-Kanna—Lord Jealous

“For you shall worship no other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God” Exodus 34:14 (NKJV).

The thought of God being jealous is a funny thought. God wants you to spend time with Him. The Greek word used in Exodus 34:14 is kanna (kan-aw) and it is the literal adjective for the word jealousy. Anyone who remembers their childhood can ascertain the feeling of having something or being with someone that someone else has. God feels the same about you.

Jehovah-Jehovah-Keren-Yish’i—Horn of Salvation

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold” Psalm 18:2 (NKJV).

Nothing is going to stop God from fulfilling His plans for you. When God says, “Do not be afraid,” that does not mean there is nothing to fear. It means, “He’s got this!” Read Psalm 18:2 again. That pretty much sums it all up.

Jehovah-Jehovah-M’Kaddesh—Sanctifier

“But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption” I Corinthians 1:30 (NKJV).

The Greek word used for sanctification in 1 Corinthians 1:30 is hagiasmos, and it literally means to be set apart. God views you as precious, quite literally, “to die for.” He loves you and He wants you to be set apart and holy as His child.

Jehovah-Jehovah-Machsi—Lord my Refuge

“Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place” Psalm 91:9 (NKJV).

It is a sobering thought—that God is a refuge. When an invading force marches into a country, the inhabitants of the land run to the cities. The fortresses. For refuge and protection, for safety. The same can be said about trusting in God. Jesus even expressed the desire that the Jews would come and gather to Him: “How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings” Matthew 23:37b (NKJV). He loves you and He wants to keep you from harm.
