Odaard’s Rose

The moment Dick Odgaard understood why Lee and Jared had entered the Gortz Haus Gallery that infamous day in 2013, he and his wife knew what they had to do.   The Odgaard’s refusal to wasn’t a matter of retaliation against men expressing themselves in abominable behavior, it was about love.  These men, once boys having the same names as their own sons, Dick knew these men would soon stand before the Lord, as would his family.

Presumably our Founding Father’s understood the importance of Religious Liberty as protected in our constitution.  What did our Founders know that today’s society is ignorant to understand?  Why is religious liberty so closely guarded, and why have brave men and women died to keep it safe?

For decades God has been pushed out of our classrooms, church buildings, and human hearts.  The devil’s schemes are now so entrenched in our everyday schematics that the denial of wedding and cake making services to those who sexually exercise in the unnatural, as according to God’s word, is considered abominable.  This new worldly standard and definition of love comes with a price.  But if you don’t believe that God raised Jesus from the dead, you’re not going to believe this either.

Take Ephesians 5:3 into the Greek.  When doing this it gives a broader more transparent understanding of the text.  Understanding this verse may cause yourself the biting of your finger nails while on your knees in forgiveness.  “But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints.”

No big deal right?  I don’t fornicate.  I’m not unclean.  This verse doesn’t apply to me, or does it?  See that phrase “let it not be ounce named among you”?   According to “Strong” the Greek “onomozo” means “to name, that is, assign an appellation; by extension to utter, mention, profess,: – call, name.”  Let’s open the door a little further!  The word “appellation” in the English dictionary means, “the action of giving a name to a person or thing.”  Does this mean that when a Christian person agrees with men or women who identify homosexual that their identity, sex act, abomination, and idolatry is now righteous in the sight of God, is this an appellation?  Have you then named uncleanness among yourself?  The mere utterance of uncleanness is inappropriate, but what if you rename homosexuality righteous?  Does the consequence spoken of in the Ephesians 5:5 apply to you?  You better hope not.  It seems that this matter is up for some discussion.

“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints. Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving. For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore do not become partners with them; for at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true), and try to discern what is pleasing to the Lord. Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to speak of the things that they do in secret. But when anything is exposed by the light, it becomes visible, for anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.” Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”

Ephesians 5: 1-17 KJV

Oh no, onomozo!

Be in care of how you walk (live).  If you name homosexuality as righteous becoming partakers with them, it stands in truth that the consequence shining brightly in verse 5 will be true for you.  Do you think the enemy of your soul understands this?  Of course he does, we see the great apostasy unfolding before our very eyes?

According to Betty Odgaard’s book “Standing Tall” there were many so called Christian persons that had essentially called her evil because of the decisions that she and her husband Dick made that day.  The Odgaard’s being true to God’s word will have nothing to do with the unfruitful works of darkness.  To hell with it!  Our God given Liberty says that we don’t have to name sin righteous.  The Founding Father’s knew this to be true, and protected all of us from the wrath of God to come on the sons of disobedience.

I suppose you’ve been warned.  Wake up and rise from the dead!

Odaard’s Rose is a series of articles about Dick and Betty Odgaard and the many recovered men and women who no longer identify homosexual (that’s me, Chris Rose).  Dick Odgaard calls us the “proof of the truth”.  The Odaard’s hope remains and will always be that there will bloom another Odgaard’s rose.
