Without God’s law there is no absolute truth. There is no gauge, scale, or rule of measurement to weigh the actions of the human race. I’ve been told, “Christians preach tolerance, but aren’t supposed to judge.” I have to ask … why and how can anyone of any other faith, or no faith, tell me what I believe is wrong just because I base my belief on Scripture? By what rule, gauge, or scale are they measuring with–their own? Without absolute truth there’s only personal emotion or philosophy. That measuring system varies from person to person, is shaky, and is dangerous territory.

Christianity does not condone the judgement of souls, but it does allow us to judge actions. The law of God allows us to discern corruption and false teachings. We can discern whether a person or an action leaves a wake of good or a wake of destruction.

Mathew 7:13-20 says, “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat. Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it. Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.”

We have a responsibility to love those around us, set an example, and be servants of God. Part of love is a responsibility to sound an alarm when danger exists. The law calls us to hate the sin and not the sinner. It is okay to hate the way by which the devil is winning in someone’s life. It’s not okay to hate the person who’s captive to that sin or to approach them with the truth in the wrong manner.

Galatians 6:1 says, “Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such a one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.”

Christians should never justify sharing the message of truth with a tone of pride. If we don’t present the message of truth with the manner of charity, we destroy our own message. God is both truth and love. He cannot be one without the other so our message cannot be one without the other. God’s Word must be shared in the same manner in which He gave it.

Ezekiel 33:6 says, “But if the watchman sees the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.”

Sharing the truth of the Gospel with someone is important because we don’t want them destroying their life or the lives of others. Christianity that preaches love without truth, or the truth without love, is akin to handing someone a recipe without the most important ingredients. We set them up for a failure. That isn’t love. Jesus set the unit of measurement by which to measure righteousness. He shared all the ingredients we need for success. It’s only right that we always share the whole recipe. I pray daily that I will measure up to the Ruler and the standard He set.
